When we're anxious to make more money our business, we often think that the only way to do that is by creating more content to post on social media.
One of the most common mistakes I see businesses make is they try to post too much too soon and quite frankly, without purpose. They create a bunch of social media content and start posting 10+ times a day in hopes of gaining traction.
(I'M GUILTY! I can't tell you how many times I stayed up half the night creating posts, only to feel like I was getting nowhere 1 hour after I posted them...eek!)
While this might work on rare occasions, it's usually not the best strategy for the average business to start making more money. Not only are you overwhelming your schedule, but you're also probably not seeing much ROI (return on investment), right?
When it comes to social media content, a better strategy is to focus on quality posts over quantity. Create content that is helpful, informative, and engaging. Build a solid foundation on one or two social media platforms, and then branch out when you have a strong following.
And while it is important to create content, it is not the only thing you can do to help your business sell more.

1. Social Media Profile Optimization
First, focus on optimizing your social media profile so that when you DO post to attract an audience, your posts are more likely to be seen and your account "followed" by your target audience.
Take a look at your social media bios and make sure they are keyword rich and tell people what you do, who you help, and how you can help them. If we don't tell people the benefit of following us, they likely won't hit that follow button - and may never "find" us again online. Hence, you could make more money with an optimized profile than a profile that doesn't attract followers.
2. Average Order Value
Secondly, work on increasing your average order value. This can be done by upselling and cross-selling to your existing customers, upselling with affiliate links, or by offering discounts or other incentives for larger orders.
For example:
Let's say you sell cosmetics and want to increase an average order value. You could offer a free gift with a minimum purchase. You could include a small makeup bag or a set of miniature beauty products with each order. This will encourage customers to spend more money on each transaction, and it possibly also increase the number of orders that you receive.
Then, you could also promote a cosmetic caddy on Amazon through an affiliate link to earn a bonus commission when they buy a product through your link!
BONUS NOTE: Affiliate marketing also can be a great way to make more money online, and it's a process that can be learned relatively easily. Affiliate marketing simply means that you promote and recommend products that other people have for sale and you earn a commission from when someone buys those products through your affiliate link.
The key affiliate marketing is to focus on developing high-quality content that will allow you to build a strong reputation as an expert in your field. By providing useful, actionable advice and recommendations, you can quickly become a trusted source of information for online shoppers. This can increase sales in a relatively short period of time!
3. Paid Ads & Partnerships
Third, focus on paid ads or partnering with other businesses on social media that have a similar audience to yours. (Make sure the partners aren't direct competition).
Yes, I know ads cost money, but if you're strategic about it, you can make that money back...and then some.
If someone would've told me I'd spend over $9,000 a year on Facebook ads, I would've died! But that plays a huge part in expanding my business quickly and making a much greater profit overall!

Partnership Examples:
There are many ways to make more money in your business, and posting on social media is just one of them. While it's important to focus on posting quality content regularly, you also need to think about other strategies that can help you reach your sales goals. Try to mix and match different methods to find what works best for you and your business.
And remember, Rome wasn't built in a day! Growing a successful business takes time and effort, but with the right mindset and a willingness to learn and adapt, you can achieve great things.
